Vannary
Om is the Vice-President of CCDI’s Board of Directors. She has served as a Khmer medical interpreter for 20 years with the Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland and also works actively with youth in the Oakland Cambodian community by supporting and assisting in Khmer arts and cultural events. In her capacity as a health worker, she handles refugee screening and prenatal outreach to the Cambodian community, and in collaboration with Catholic Charity and International Institute, she provides interpretation and resettlement services to refugees. Having two teenage daughters of her own and working with at-risk girls, Ms. Om has also worked to educate youth about the dangers of having unprotected sex and taking the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases.
